Letter from the President

Dear Capital Area Trial Lawyers Association Members,

CATLA welcomes you.  When I first came to Austin in 2012, that truth was clear.  It remains so today.  We know that many of our members practice in small or solo practices.  We are here for you – to collaborate as you fight for your clients and our community.

This year begins in a pandemic, and with racial tensions running high.  CATLA is inclusive and we want everyone to know that we support you as a brother or sister in the battle we fight on behalf of those in need.  We also need you.  We need your involvement.  CATLA will be, for you, what you make of it.  Please get involved.  In the role of president, I need you.

Our CLE lunches, whether live or virtual, will allow you to obtain your full Texas CLE requirements for the year.  We have speakers who will talk with us about topics relevant to areas relevant to your practice.  If you have speaker suggestions, please let me know.  At the live events, you will gain the added benefit of meeting and socializing with other plaintiff’s lawyers.  We hope to be back to regular happy hours, the fall fling, a judicial reception, and a service project – as mandates permit.  Our organization continues to offer a mentorship program, and I encourage the newer members of the bar to join in.

I would love to hear from those interested in being involved in the committees for any of these events.  We hope that you will take the time to attend all of the activities provided.

I hope you find your membership as rewarding as I have.  Please contact me if there is anything I can do to assist you to maximize the benefit of your involvement as a “CATLAN.”

Sincerely,

Todd Kelly

President, CATLA
